ANDY KRAUSS, Director of Communications
Andy Krauss is the Director of Communications for Sugar Free Kids Maryland. He is responsible for the creation of all communications strategies for both Sugar Free Kids Maryland and LOCAL Maryland. Andy works to develop external relationships for both coalitions and enhance their visibility on the local and national levels.
Since starting at Sugar Free Kids Maryland in 2014, Andy has coordinated more than 500 media hits. He coordinated a media effort that was integral in helping seven different jurisdictions in Maryland pass healthy vending laws and the City of Baltimore pass a Healthy Kids’ Meal Bill in 2018.
Andy was concurrently involved with the communications team of the Horizon Foundation from 2014-18.
A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, with a B.A. in Journalism, Andy has more than 20 years of experience in communications and public relations. He has spent the last 15 years working in the non-profit sector, most recently at Easter Seals Serving DC|MD|VA, where he helped the organization take major strides in building its exposure in the media and the community. He began his public relations career, working in the world of collegiate athletics, at Washington and Lee University, Virginia Military Institute and the University of Florida. Andy served as a media relations contact at all three schools and was responsible for countless publications.
He keeps his feet wet in sports as the internal public address voice of the FedExField press box during Washington Redskins gamedays. Andy resides in Bethesda and enjoys being involved in everything that the Washington-Baltimore corridor has to offer.
